Light Roast- This is a type of coffee that is heated for a shorter time and lower temperature than darker roasts. Often exhibiting a bright acidity, floral and fruity notes.
Medium Roast- This type of roast will have a darker brown coloring and will look richer than the lighter roast. Offers that rich taste without the bitterness in taste.
Dark Roast- Roasting at higher temperatures removes moisture making dark roast beans light and puffy in look. Dark roasts are bold, toasty, and even nutty in taste.
Acidity- The average pH of coffee is between 4.5 and 5.5 on the pH scale making coffee quite acidic in comparison to water which is a 7 on the pH scale. To balance the natural bitterness and sweetness of coffee acidity is used to compliment the flavors.
Blend- A blend is a mixture of coffee beans from multiple origins or roasting levels.
Notes-Description of the subtle taste characteristics that are unique to each coffee. These can be attributed to growing conditions, roasting, and processing.
